The "Whiskey Rebellion" refers to a 1794 uprising in western Pennsylvania, sparked by a federal excise tax on whiskey. This tax, proposed by Alexander Hamilton to help pay off national debt, was deeply unpopular with farmers who relied on whiskey as both a currency and a means of preserving their grain. The rebellion saw farmers attacking tax collectors, rioting, and even threatening to march on Pittsburgh. President George Washington, viewing this as a threat to federal authority, personally led troops to suppress the uprising.
The cigar's name is a portmanteau (combination) of Pennsylvania (the location of the Whiskey Rebellion) and Kentucky. The cigar was created in collaboration with Cigar Dojo and was released to coincide with the Whiskey Rebellion Festival in Pennsylvania.
